Accessibility
Pemba is located about 2 600 km north of Maputo. Both the distance and current road conditions to the north of Vilanculos makes driving from South Africa to Pemba unattractive
There is an international airport at Pemba, however, with regular flights from Johannesburg, and Maputo. The direct flight from Johannesburg International (currently on Wednesdays) is about three hours.
On arrival, we will meet, and on departure take leave of our guests at the airport. The return transfer between the airport and yacht is included in our standard rates.

Crime and Personal Safety
Mozambique and its people are very hospitable and friendly towards visitors. The Pemba area has a low incidence of serious crime. Normal precautions should be exercised by visitors to prevent petty theft (items such as sunglasses, handbags, cameras & wrist watches left unattended).
Health - Malaria
Malaria does occur in Mozambique, and we advise visitors to consult a medical practitioner before traveling to Mozambique regarding preventative medication. It is advisable to bring along insect repellant spray or lotion.
Staying on a yacht substantially reduces, but do not entirely eliminate the risk of malaria.
Basic medical facilities are normally available in Pemba.
Our Seasons
Pemba is located outside (just north) of the area where tropical storms generally occur. For this reason we operate our vessels year-round. The area is a summer rainfall region.
